Tips & tricks on finding relevant items on eBay

Here is some advice on getting more refined and better results when performing an eBay search.

Refine your results by using negative keywords

Example:
baseball card -autograph
will find items that do not contain autograph

Example:
baseball card -autograph -damaged
will find items that do not contain autograph and damaged

Use quotation marks to get items with exact keyword sequence

Example:
"baseball card"
will exclude items containing baseball and card but in different order

Use category filter with care

Categories can be an excellent way of filtering relevant results, however our research shows that often sellers specify incorrect or ambiguous categories and this may prevent item from appearing in the results when category filter is in use.

To find out if this is the case in your area of interest, perform a few searches based on a precise category, then do the same searches without category filtering and compare the results.
